The photo of Cici the cat made it’s way to me via my Little Dog Facebook page. A good friend of Cici’s owner had taken the picture whilst ‘cat sitting’ for her and then posted it to my page for the “Gorgeous Golden Oldies” competition. As Cici is a whopping sixteen years old his qualification was a given. I was instantly taken by the light and colouring of the photo and saved it to my “inspirational muses” folder. My calendar project provided the perfect opportunity to try and capture Cici’s likeness and do my best to reproduce the lovely quality of light falling over the sleeping cat. Across the twelve months, I try to draw a variety of cats in different situations and positions. This year’s effort has been incredibly satisfying to create. I’ll even (tempting fate) be as bold to declare that I think it is my best to date, but ultimately that is for you to decide!” Anna Danielle
