Introducing the first of firsts, an Anna Danielle Art collectible! Dipping her toe into the category of assemblage art, this one-of-a-kind creation is for anyone who has pondered the question of happiness and found their answer includes dogs, a pot of tea and biscuits! From her own private hoard of objet trouvé, Anna curates her favourite vintage discoveries into something new. Reimagining their purpose, adding hand-stitched accessories and captions in a bid to free the individual from the mass-produced.

3 x bone-faced, ebony-backed dominoes joined with small brass pins. A classic build for English domino sets from the 1860’s through to the 1900’s.

Born out of a desire for a new hobby, Anna’s vintage whimsies are a collection of curiosities for fellow kindred spirits who delight in the whimsical and tiniest detail. And if you love animals, even better. Her decades in the card and gift industry have clearly left an indelible mark, most noticeably in her compulsion to add a caption and reason to gift!

“Each vintage assemblage piece has slowly evolved from a melting pot of consideration, contemplation, trial and error. It’s been a rollercoaster of creative lightbulbs pinging and ‘think I’m on to something’ bubbles bursting. Some pieces materialise in a moment, others are revisited and revised over and over again.” Anna says of the process ” I surround my work space with the animal figurines and just let them be while I get on with other tasks, This seems to be the most productive way for ideas to flow. Then it’s a simple case of learning new creative skills or remember them from my younger days. Both have proved highly enjoyable.”

Why the dominoes?

Anna began collecting old dominoes pieces some thirty years ago. An item she always associates with her beloved Grandad and memories of childhood. Vintage dominoes made their first appearance in her textile degree artwork. Then as interior decoration throughout her home and more recently as props in her product photography. These beautiful little rectangles provide a spark to her fascination and respect for the long lasting impact on her grandparents lives of the 2nd world war.
