“Each vintage assemblage piece has slowly evolved from a melting pot of consideration, contemplation, trial and error. It’s been a rollercoaster of creative lightbulbs pinging and ‘think I’m on to something’ bubbles bursting. Some pieces materialise in a moment, others are revisited and revised over and over again.” Anna says of the process ” I surround my work space with the animal figurines and just let them be while I get on with other tasks, This seems to be the most productive way for ideas to flow. Then it’s a simple case of learning new creative skills or remember them from my younger days. Both have proved highly enjoyable.”

4 x wooden printing blocks c. 1910s – 1940s -The height of industrial letterpress poster production. The font style is a classic bold Grotesque or Sans-Serif face, which exploded in popularity for commercial advertising during the early-to-mid 20th century.

Dog cold-painted lead figure. Children’s farmyard play set. Britains Ltd produced them heavily during the inter war and early post war era.

And if you love animals, even better. Her decades in the card and gift industry have clearly left an indelible mark, most noticeably in her compulsion to add a caption and reason to gift!

Why the dominoes?

Anna began collecting old dominoes pieces some thirty years ago. An item she always associates with her beloved Grandad and memories of childhood. Vintage dominoes made their first appearance in her textile degree artwork. Then as interior decoration throughout her home and more recently as props in her product photography. These beautiful little rectangles provide a spark to her fascination and respect for the long lasting impact on her grandparents lives of the 2nd world war.
