What you need is some COLOUR.

Hello!

How has your year started? Have you managed to avoid the bugs, grim times and bad news that feels so prevalent at the moment? If you haven’t, we hope you have some good friends and family around you to ease your woes and at least get you through to the spring. There is nothing quite like a fresh spring day to lighten your mental load, if not your physical one. Basically, hang in there, brighter days are always on the way.

We’ve been thinking hard about how to help distract you, especially on days when the weather makes everything damp and cold and it feels like somebody forgot to draw the curtains. Unfortunately, we’ve misplaced our furry dog mother’s magic wand, hugely careless we know, but we do have lots of colourful designs that could be just the thing for adding some hope or a smidge of joy to yours or even that special someone’s day. We are thinking colourful, eye catching designs to keep those winter blues at bay.

Our Top 5 Colour Loves To Brighten The Days

Have you seen our colour loaded Tuppence A Bag Collection recently? It started with Anna’s watercolour studies of British garden birds and then expanded to include wildflowers, butterflies and bees. Last year you may have noticed empty shelves when shopping and here at The Little Dog, we too did not escape the frustrating stock delays. The longest was a whopping nine months which finally ended when our china gift mugs arrived. 2022 may have been angsty and sparse but with our gift mugs safe arrival, 2023 now feels full of colour and prettiness. At least it does in our stock rooms!

Thus, having waited for these little beauties for so long, it feels only right that we get this Top 5 Colour Loves List started with a brew!

No 1 | Just like tea, you won’t know your own strength until you’re in hot water.

We have 8 designs in this pretty, colourful china cup and there are also matching coasters. They are lovely to drink from and popular with those who like a thin lip and prefer fresh refills to half cups of cold tea. This gift line is a big favourite here at Little Dog Towers and we are thrilled we can finally showcase them knowing they are on the shelves, fully QC checked and ready to go. You’d be hard pushed to find a nicer, yet affordable gift idea, especially if you added one of those little two pack of biscuits inside the box. Thoughtful happiness guaranteed every time they stop for a cuppa!

No.2 | Do you have a fly through?

If you are on a mission to chase away the winter blues, a bird seed tin to treat your feathery garden visitors is a simple way to encourage colour and joy on a cold, grey day. Fill the tin with mealworms and little Robin Redbreast will be sure to drop by for  How kind, don’t mind if I do elevenses. Our native birds always appreciate extra food and water during the winter months. So, get inspired by the famous Golden Arches and set about creating your own bird table fly through! Then sit back quietly and marvel at the zingy yellow of the Blackbird’s beak or the pretty blue cap donned by the Blue Tit and if you are lucky enough to live near water, maybe, just maybe you’ll be blessed with a flash of the iridescent turquoise Kingfisher. Magical. We promise you’ll carry that joy for the whole day.

No 3. An Orange Bonaza | The Future Is Bright

Let’s hear it for the joy that is Orange. Commandeered by Anna during lockdown and still her current favourite accent colour to design with. Orange lifts the spirits in an instant and a little goes a very long way. We have pops of orange all across our collections so you should have no problem finding something to catch your eye. We promise, unbeknownst to yourself, these orange bursts will be working away on your subconscious, adding a little lift to your spirits. And if you are a tad sceptical about the power of colour, maybe reach for the Vitamin C (also orange) instead and give your immune system a helping boost.

No.4 | Add Some Colour To Your Floor

The trick is to place pops of colour high and low and as far as we are concerned any area is fair go. Our tin dog bowls are bright and cheerful and available in 3 sizes. In all honesty, your furry one probably doesn’t give a brass monkeys how colourful the bowl is that holds their water or dinner but as you are the one refilling it and washing it, seize the opportunity to add extra colour to your role of Guardian to a furry one.

No.5 |A Good Birthday Is Always Filled With Colour

At the end of the day, you are another day older but however you decide to celebrate, be it in FULL technicolour or turned down low, we’ve got a wide choice of pet and animal inspired birthday cards for you to browse.  You might choose a cheeky Cockapoo or perhaps opt for a soul gazing Moggie moo, maybe German Shepherds float your boat or perhaps it’s a Jack Russell on whom you dote!

It has taken us just short of 25 years to add a Happy Birthday sentiment to our dog and cat greeting cards and imagine our surprise when our latest collection of colourful birthday cards have stormed up the best sellers chart. Honestly, who knew the little two word sentiment would prove so popular! At the risk of being branded birthday bandwagon jumpers, Anna has created another batch of birthday designs that will be debuting here in February. Do keep ’em peeled for Little Dog Laughed updates because there are some colour soaked crackers on the way.
