WWND | What would Nancy do?

WWND? Move over Beyonce, Nancy is in town!

This ‘heads up share’ is for anyone who is maybe going through a rough patch and could really do with a bit of a distraction or maybe you are the type who always appreciates a nudge in the direction of a silver lining or two.
Firstly, apologies to all those who are waaaaay ahead of the curve, have always watched the GBBO or have been following her for years.

Why on earth didn’t you tell me about Nancy?!

I literally found this lady’s Facebook page this month while drifting down another phone scrolling, insomnia wormhole and she immediately made me smile.
Her name is Nancy Birtwhistle and you can find her on all the social platforms where every post or reel she makes teaches you something new.
My current favourite is watching her turn left over cream destined for the bin into an enormously satisfying block of butter, purely by shaking it vigorously for 10 minutes.
Or her top tip on how to make towels fluffy again without using the tumble dryer. Spoiler alert, it does involve more vigorous shaking but on the plus side it is an excellent workout for bingo wings. Gotta love a 2 for 1!
And if you are already an eco striver with amazing culinary tricks and a full back catalogue of life skills handed down from generations of practical geniuses, just follow her for her personality and accent. Her warm, friendly northern tones will sooth any troubled spirit, Little Dog honour.
Nancy Birtwhistle is an author, a baker, a grandmother to 10 children and in my humble opinion front runner for National Treasure.
To be honest, having recently celebrated my arrival at the 5th floor, I’m a little bit fazed as to how I got this far in life without Nancy in it! I feel big eco changes on the horizon for 2024 and hope one of her books makes it into my xmas stocking. ( I’ve already purchased and wrapped them so it’s a pretty safe hope!)
If you can’t get hold of me here you’ll find me on Nancy’s website page. Maybe see you there!
P.s I shared my Nancy discovery on my Facebook page last Sunday and quickly had it confirmed how late I am to the NB party but then I woke Monday morning to see that THE Nancy Birtwhistle had left me a comment. How cool is that! This little silver lining could well turn into a rainbow.
