A New Collection, Thirty Years in the Making
It is thrilling to introduce something completely new to The Little Dog Laughed: Pips & Whiskers Vintage Whimsies. A debut art collection from our Creative Director, Anna Danielle.
After decades working in the card and gift industry focusing on fresh and new, Anna has squeezed in a new hobby to her daily schedule. This time turning her hand to a new kind of craft, assemblage art. Each piece in the Pips & Whiskers collection begins life as an eclectic gathering of vintage treasures. Old dominoes, mid-century animal figurines, all from Anna’s personal hoard of objets trouvé. Anna reimagines them, adds hand-stitched accessories and caption, and gives each one a new life as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.
Origin of the name: Pips & Whiskers Vintage Whimsies
The name has two roots. “Pips” are the dots on a domino, the starting point for every piece Anna creates. “Whiskers” celebrates the animal ornaments that take centre stage. Add “vintage” for Anna’s love of social history and old objects with a past life, and”whimsies” for the sense of playful imagination running through the whole collection.

Especially animal lovers who also love treasure-hunting through vintage fairs, car boots, and flea markets. These pieces hit a very particular sweet spot. One-of-a-kind pieces created with items that have already experienced a lifetime of living. Some pieces date from the late 1860’s. They will definitely appeal to anyone looking for something extra special.
Anna says of her new working process “I surround my work space with the animal figurines and just let them be while I get on with my daily tasks. This seems to be the most productive way for ideas to flow. Sometimes the figurine inspires the caption, sometimes it’s thinking of new ways to use a tape measure or darning mushroom. Mostly it’s having the luxury of time to let my imagination wander “
