Rescued, Renamed, and Ruling the House!
Did you know every cat illustration in our Magnificent Moggies’ 2027 Cat Calendar and 2027 Cat Diary has a true story. But some of the best ones start the same way. A cat with nowhere to go, and a gorgeous feline adoring soul who said yes to sharing their heart and home. Here are four of them.
Noodles
Noodles arrived via a friend of a friend of a friend, a little street waif needing a home that his rescuer’s own cats had unanimously vetoed. Janet, a lifelong animal devotee, said yes instead. Likely an Oriental cross, long-legged and enormous-eared, Noodles wasn’t in great health when he arrived, but under Janet’s care he’s now thriving — affectionate, silk-furred, and confident to the point of cocky. He’s already redecorated the bedroom sleeping arrangements to suit himself, and left a fully plucked pigeon on the floor as an early gift. Life with Noodles is shaping up to be eventful.

Barry
Named for the Cillit Bang advert (“Bang! And the dirt is gone!”), Barry banged into Emily’s life after causing chaos locally and ending up at her vet’s surgery. A natural flirt, he clocked nurse Emily’s soft heart and ran his charm offensive until the job was done. He won over the resident feline grump within days and now spends his summers on outdoor adventures, returning home with stolen souvenirs that have included a string of sausages and a full steak. Emily lives in quiet dread that the neighbours will eventually work out exactly whose cat has been raiding their gardens.

Brian
There’s a theory called the Cat Distribution System — the idea that the universe, not people, decides who gets a cat. Johanna thinks hers is broken, because cats keep turning up at her door. Brian appeared in her garden and she assumed he was just a friendly neighbourhood cat. This is until the colder weather revealed he’d been abandoned. A vet check confirmed it. Her veterinary nurse sister warned her not to add more to her care toll. Wasted breath because Johanna was always going to say yes! Brian’s tufted feet are now permanently tucked under her duvet — exactly where, as far as the universe and Brian are concerned, they belong.

As well as being Mr September 2027 Brian is also the star of this birthday card.
Cameo
After almost ten years of cat-free living, Tanya adopted three-month-old Cameo. A dilute calico with a butter-wouldn’t-melt face and a serious talent for insect hunting. Such is her professionalism, she even demands human assistance if a spider moves out of reach. Not a lap cat, Cameo does show affection, but only on her own terms. Walking across Tanya’s shoulders and dropping onto her chest for exactly as long as Tanya’s arms can hold out. Her favourite game involves stealing a dressing gown tie and running it round the house. Her recovery method is a small cardboard box, where she recharges until she’s ready to go again.

As well as being Miss November 2027 Cameo also stars on a birthday card too.
So there you have it, a little glimpse into what’s in store for 2027. Four very different starts for cats who ended up exactly where they were meant to be.
